Opening
up to a new "Great Room"
An out-dated
saloon-type bar and a single wall opening (reminiscent of a barn
door) opening onto the main accessway to the kitchen and dining
room were some of the problems in this yet to be "Great Room"… In
addition to its unattractive look, this wall made all the spaces
in the downstairs feel too closed off from each other.
Three graceful
arches supported by strong columns now open up functional access
ways and visual views throughout the space and integrate the entry
foyer, living room, access hallway, kitchen, and dining room into
one "Great Room Space"…
New recessed
lighting and high-fired clay tile flooring tie all the spaces together
and blend in beautifully with the new hand-made fireplace tile
surround and hearth seat.
